How can I buy your kits?
We will be launching our first line of products on Kickstarter early fall 2018. Signup for our newsletter and be the first to know when our campaign has been launched.
Why are you selling your furniture on Kickstarter?
Unlike other Kickstarter campaigns, we have already completed our product development phase and have partnered with a manufacturer in Massachusetts, USA. However, we are unable to produce large enough quantities of our products at a cost-efficient price. By leveraging Kickstarter, we can raise enough funds the first production run and continue to scale the business afterward.
When is the projected shipping date?
We are fortunate to already have our product development phase finished; once the Kickstarter campaign has been completed, we expect the manufacturing, packaging, and shipping process to take a between four to eight weeks.
What is different about Kitizo compared to other furniture brands?
We are more than just a furniture company; we started Kitizo to not only offer high-quality furniture but to also give our customers the satisfaction you get when you build your own furniture by hand. The majority of consumers are used to assembling their own furniture when it gets delivered; we take it one step further and give you all of the materials you need to build your own piece of furniture.
What is the difference between the two types of wood offered?
We offer two types of wood materials to choose from: North American Ash and Baltic Birch Plywood.
North American Ash
Ash is a sustainably managed hardwood from natural forests of North America. It has excellent environmental credentials and is popular with woodworkers for its light brown color and pronounced grain patterns. It also:
- Is very hard and stable, which makes it perfect for furniture.
- Glues, stains, and finishes very well, meaning your furniture will endure for years to come.
Baltic Birch Plywood
Baltic Birch Plywood is among the highest-quality sheet goods available, which is why we offer our furniture in this economical but attractive material. Baltic birch’s core is unlike traditional plywood; the layers of inner plies are 1.5 mm-thick solid birch veneer, crossbanded, and laminated. And because we think indoor air quality matters, the product we use meets California Air Resources Board (or CARB) Phase 2 Standards. It is:
- Strong and stable
- Capable of forming clean joints
What is included in every kit?
We supply all but the most ubiquitous tools and materials – all you need is a common hammer and screwdriver. If you do not own a hammer or screwdriver, we recommend that you go to your local hardware store and actually take some hammers off of the rack to see if you like the weight and the handle. We also recommend purchasing a quality screwdriver set like this Craftsman 8 Piece set or ratcheting multi-bit driver like the Milwaukee 10-in-1.
